Vera Wang inspiration behind the dress:
There are two ways of making a look modern. There's the severe approach, and there's the soft approach. I love working with softness and delicacy-few things make a bride feel more feminine than delicate details, like the petals we've added here. It's a very organic layer of textured fabric, which stands out against the very structured bodice.

The petals wrap around the bodice asymmetrically. I love being able to introduce asymmetry into my designs. It surprises and delights the eye, and it lends a dramatic feel to the presentation of the dress. Another bold visual contrast here is the organic form of the petals, against the architectural flourish of the bow, which brings the dress together at the waist level. The bow is a separate sash, it's grosgrain ribbon backed with horsehair-very structured. It makes a beautifully crisp centerpiece to the volume and delicacy of the rest of the gown. You have lovely visual drama here, from any angle.

With the rigid sash and the complex lines of movement in the skirt and the array of petals, the dress feels quite modern, and yet with so much delicate, fluid softness, it's simply full of sweetness and light.
