The Dress

Hi girls!

My measurements;

•170 cms with heels on (I am 162 cms tall)
•Waist roughly 73 cms
•Hips roughly 93 cms
•Bust 10 B-C cup

When looking for my dress, my favourite designer by far was Jane Hill. I was in love with so many gowns in her store, just not the price. I had heard of still white from a friend and decided to have a look. I found this stunning gown and as soon as I put this dress on, I was like “this is it”. I was looking for something breathtaking and unique and I found it here on still white.

The girl that I bought this dress from had the dress custom made in 2016. Our measurements were near perfect.

I needed the dress slightly altered. I shortened the shoulder straps a little and therefore needed to create a little more room under the arm. I had the dress slightly taken in on each side and the under layer shortened. I had the most amazing dress alterer, Dana, at Bridal Alterations in Narre Warren North. She did a flawless job and very reasonably priced. Before committing to the dress, I took the dress to Dana with the previous owner to ensure that the alterations could be done. I am sure she would be happy to do this again and also happy to work on this dress again. Dana put the beads back on that were missing and also added 3 clear buttons and loops for a bustle. The buttons are hardly noticeable on the dress but so valuable when you want to dance. The dress also has a wrist loop bustle.

The dress is fully beaded from head to toe with a stunning train. Even though it feels heavy to hold, the weight is dispersed evenly when it is on your body and is incredibly comfortable. The lining is beautiful and soft and the beads give off a beautiful bright shiny glow. I danced all night in this dress and I got so many comments about how beautiful my dress was. A few people had said that they have never seen anything like it.

There are a few beads missing (to be expected) but I have a fabric sheet of matching beads that can be used for the dress alter to replace. The dress was dry cleaned in March at Jane Hills preferred dry cleaner, Syndals. Unfortunately there is a slight grey stain on the underlay layer of the dress they couldn’t get out. The outer layer of beading is beautifully clean with no staining. Other than that, there is no damage to this dress.

Please don’t be nervous about buying a second hand dress. I must admit I was sceptical at the beginning but absolutely loved my designer dress at more than half the cost. There is absolutely nothing wrong with buying a second hand gown, and this one is in near perfect condition, even having 2 prior owners. It is far too beautiful to be boxed in a cupboard. This dress needs the spotlight again!
