The Dress

My wedding dress saw quite the party, however it is time to say goodbye!

Loved this dress from the moment I saw it and it was super comfortable. Comfort was important to me on my big day, as I knew I was going to be wearing this dress for a fair few hours.

I had my wedding in Summer 2018 in South Africa, and luckily the dress wasn't too heavy to take there and back. It was also fairly lightweight to wear, which worked well in the 30 degree heat.

This dress is from Madison James and is an ivory lace beading with a champagne jersey underlay.

It has a v-neck (boned bodice) and low back with satin covered buttons all the way down.

It features a wrist strap, which can be used when dancing as well as a very small bow on the back in which you can attach to the buttons if you don't wish to use the wrist strap. For me personally, I didn't like the wrist strap and opted to use the bow instead.

Unfortunately, the dress has some very light pink staining from the smoke bombs we used in our pictures, however I have included an image of this.

Alterations

The dress was ordered in a 14 (I am a standard 12) but then altered to fit. The dress was designed to be fitted however was altered so I had room to move (all about comfort!!)

All measurements are taken with the dress lying flat, and have been doubled to give the circumference, and have been taken post alterations.

Bust = 109cm (to fit bra 12DD/12D). Padded breast cups were added so I didn't have to wear a bra. These can be easily removed.

Waist = 83cm

Hips = 107cm

Custom lace straps = 11cm (from shoulder to top of bust) - these were added as I liked the straps to be a bit thicker, as the original straps were a bit thin for my liking.

Train = 234cm (measured from top back of shoulder to centre back of train).

Length (front) = 154cm (measured from shoulder to hem - I am 173cm tall).

Arm holes = approx 51cm (circumference)
