The Dress

The dress has a tulle bodice (with in-built corset), hand-beaded with pearls, crystals and silver detailing, and a full silk organza skirt. The dress is a size 6. It was purchased new from David Jones in late 2016 and only worn once. The RRP of the dress was A$5,500. This dress was from Collette Dinnigan’s last bridal collection.

Every wedding dress has a story

I think it's wise to know the story of a dress before you commit to buying it.

This dress has a magical story.
The story began on the day my sister rang around every David Jones and Collette Dinnigan Store in Australia to find a size 6 one of a kind lattice pearl beaded bodice dress wedding dress. I was more relaxed and thought if the dress was meant for me it’d come my way.

Lara could see thought that I really wanted that dress and knew when I tried it on in the other size it was meant for me. Bless her heart. So she found it for me.

The day I wore the dress was a very happy day indeed. One that I carefully curated and planned. With butterflies in my tummy and peace in my heart, I married a man that felt like home to me.

My smile was big and bright. All despite having a throbbing broken big toe as a consequence of too much wine and pirouettes on my hens weekend away.

My dad teared up when he saw me. I hugged him tightly and told him I loved him.
I knew and he knew that I was ready to start a family of my own with a man that I equally adored and loved.

I was blissfully happy that day as I walked down the aisle. My heart sang and I was elated.

We were surrounded by our loved ones . It was a union of two souls, and a union of our cherished families.

We loved hard, travelled together, laughed together and had so many joyful experiences together. We built a beautiful life together.

Like many couples, we struggled to conceive. We did our best to weather the storm that came with that but, individually it changed us neither good nor bad, just different. We parted ways lovingly.

Meanwhile, our fertility struggle birthed something incredible - Together We Wait a community that brings women in IVF together to empower each other on their heart-led quests to conceive.

This dress is the materialised form of love and gratitude. I know that my first love will last a lifetime, because I’m incredibly grateful for him and our time together. I always have been and always will be.

I’m grateful for the care he gave me and to have grown up with a man that was kind.
His love and my love has led me towards my calling in life.
While I adore the girl I was back then. I really love (and much prefer) the woman that I am now. All thanks to my first love and the beautiful lessons that it came with.

I’m ready to pass this pre-loved and cherished dress onto someone else now, so that they can start their unique heart-led quest.
