The Dress

Current season Charlie Brear Trine dress.

The dress is bias cut, silk lined with a boat neck and the showstopper is a very low cowl back.

It is very forgiving and versatile for sizing, because it’s so backless it doesn’t really cling at the waist or bust, it’s a looser style. I went from a high street size 12 to a small size 10 in the run up to the wedding and it needed no alterations as a result of that, just length.

The dress has a natural short train at the back which I kept when I had my length alteration, so it remains slightly longer at the back than the front.

As you can see from the pics, I added a Charlie Brear lace beaded overskirt and crepe ivory sash. It looks beautiful just with the sash as an alternative, if you like to be nipped in at the waist but don’t want the lace. A sash also raises the cowl back a bit if it’s too low for your liking.

I am 5ft 6 and wore Kurt Geiger Carrie heels which are 80mm.

Some measurements:

- Pit to pit 37.5cm
- Front of dress: neckline to front hemline 145cm
- Back of dress: lowest part of cowl seam to longest part of train 185cm

Professionally dry cleaned, not a single mark on it; just a very tiny nick in the fabric at the back just above the hemline which is unnoticeable when worn.
