The Dress

This dress was the first I tried on and even though I didn't buy it straight away it was the dress I measured all other against. I had originally gone in wanting a ball gown or a-line style dress but quickly realised that all the dresses in this style were heavy, hard to walk in and didn't suit my figure or the low-key laid intimate wedding we wanted.
This dress highlighted my narrow waist without emphasising my large hips and in doing so slimmed my silhouette. The mocha layers under the ivory lace brought it far enough from white that I was still able to wear a white dress but one which suited my colouring. The rose gold and pearl belt on ivory ribbon (also included in price) that I paired with the dress broke up the pattern on the lace, bringing out the pale mocha colour whilst enhancing the dress. The belt also again served to emphasis my narrow waist. As the belt is on a ribbon, not sewn in as suggested by the bridal store, you do not need to wear it if it doesn't suit your style or figure.
This dress is full length with the beautiful patterns in the lace, which I have tried to show in the photos, continuing all the way throughout the whole dress from the sweet cap sleeves (great for hiding tan lines) into the train. There is also a bustle if you don't want the whole train to drag along the floor.
This dress also has custom alterations. Instead of the original laceup back it came with an invisible zip and small clear buttons. Much easier to do up in my opinion, and the buttons add beautiful detail to the back of the dress.
Besides the fact this dress is just gorgeous what also got me, was the first time I tried it on I was lucky enough to meet it's designer. Jack Sullivan is based in Brisbanbe and designed this dress with his mother, Wendy Sullivan which I thought just added to the beauty of this dress.
I loved wearing this dress and if I could think of a way to keep in and wear it again I probably would. For me, it was exactly what a wedding dress should be. Beautiful, feminine, romantic, and easy to move in. A dress that, and this is coming from someone who always wears jeans, made me feel even if just for that day like a princess in my own personal fairytale. Even though it breaks my heart a little bit to sell it, I couldn't bear the thought of it staying hidden in the closet for the rest of my life. I sincerley hope that whoever buys this dress loves it as much as I did and has a wonderful day in it.
