The Dress

This is an Oleg Cassini dress bought from David’s Bridal Westfield branch in Summer 2018. Size 18W - for curvy brides. The colour is ivory champagne owing to a champagne taffeta layer a few skirts below the main lace layer but as you can see from the photos it comes up ivory/almost white in some lights.

It is a ballgown dress with several layers of skirt including tulle, taffeta, organza and lace with the final top layer being soft lace with lace embellishments. But really the bodice is the nicest part with 1000s of beads and discreet sparkles and lace appliqué. The back is closed by a hidden zip halfway and small round satin buttons cover the zip from the bottom of the corset to the top, the last 6 buttons are used to close the corset.

It wasn’t the style I was originally planning for when I first started looking for bridal gowns but when I wore it I felt like a real princess.

In my opinion, the skirt is just something else when worn with an underskirt underneath, I have one that is the perfect fit which I bought from DB for £65 and can include that for £30 too as it really does make the skirt show itself fully (I wore this in the pictures included)

I also have a long cathedral length veil from DB (made in USA) which went perfect with this dress as the lace lining was almost an exact match. I bought this for £350, but I’m happy to sell it for £200. Please note there are small holes in the veil (I suspect from snagging but they are very subtle). Both these are available separately and not in the price listed on Still White.

The dress has been professionally dry cleaned by a wedding specialist dry cleaner but having been worn all day and outside, there is some wear at the bottom of the train on the inside but this is very minimal. Also one of the bustles ripped and left a small hole on the top layer behind the skirt. All this can be amended by a good seamstress.

Description from David’s Bridal’s website:

This lovely cap sleeve ball gown is the perfect combination of grand and soft. Embellished with beading and lace appliqués, the plus size gown's soft volume and fluid movement is created by over 35 yards of tulle, as a champagne lining lends warmth and dimension.
