The Dress

As soon as I put on the Penelope Gown, I absolutely loved it. It is romantic, feminine, and photographs beautifully. I was able to spend the entire day comfortably in the gown, from the ceremony, to pictures, and throughout the party in the evening. The top of the dress begins with a sheer neckline, and has built in cups, therefore offering sufficient support. The bodice is delicately laced with an ivory and blush floral detail, leading to long, flowing tulle down to the floor. Under the tulle is layer of bronze satin, offering full coverage, and adds a blush tone to the gown. Although the dress comes with a sash, I did not use it because it didn't add anything to the gown. Instead, I purchased a beautifully detailed jewel belt from BHLDN, which I am including with the dress, because it truly made the gown complete. The belt alone was $200. Because I danced for hours in the dress, the inside bronze layer has a few dark spots that the dry cleaner could not remove. These are not at all visible when the dress is on, given their location inside the gown.

Alterations

I had the gown altered on the top, where the seamstress lifted the sheer neckline slightly to ensure that the bodice stayed in place and flattered my chest. The bottom was hemmed an inch. I am 5 feet 3 inches, and my heels were 3 inches.
