The Dress

This beautiful dress I purchased on here in fact! So it’s time for someone else to experience and love this beauty.

She was the dress I wanted from the minute I saw her. Isn’t it lovely when your heart knows? I looked at it for months and kept coming back to it. In a bid to appease some pesky (well meaning) friends and family I went to three dress shops and tried everything on! And finally found something similar (but nowhere near as gorgeous as this) and tried it on and everyone loved the shape on me despite concern when seeing I was wanting to buy a pre-loved dress. So then it was stick with my gut!

Let me try and be eloquent in explaining this beautiful dress.

First the material - it’s lace. No seriously the whole thing has a gorgeous delicate motif on it - (check out the close up of me in my elegant Uber on the way to my big day).

When you get used to the lace you then notice the elegant handkerchief hem. Let me tell you having tried on every type of this hemmed dress in north Brisbane this is softer and more elegant than any other I found.

The top half has cups, boning and a newly created sheer back and sides (see alterations description). It allowed me the confidence to go braless supporting my 14C bust.

I loved the fact this dress had a train and yet elegantly picked up to hook over one of the buttons to bustle. These gorgeous buttons run all the way down the back but aren’t functional.

I also wore with a waist length veil that I’d borrowed from a friend.

Alterations

I had the top half of the dress altered by a professional dress maker as her previous bride was a bit better endowed than I am. So he lowered cups, refitted and remade the entire back and sides.

A little note, my biggest And personal worry was my side showing with the sheer panels - I have a fairly high level of self doubt after investigating many many options to cover it in (all would have ruined the look of the dress or stuck out) I decided with my tan and just a suck it up attitude I’d go how it was. And guess what it didn’t matter. No one noticed my so called “side flab” and I didn’t care I was far too wrapped up in the beautiful moments of the day.

*there is a tiny nick between the left side and back piece about a 2mm tear in the sheer netting no doubts could be repaired by an alterations person, ignored or replaced. Yeah
