The Dress

This beautiful dress was purchased from Ultimate Bride in Adelaide, in mid 2019 for my January 2020 wedding. The floor length lace gown, complete with stunning train, sits over a champagne lining for a unique, elegant look. I absolutely fell in love with the keyhole back and lace neckline, and the warm colour tone went perfectly with our outdoor, rustic-style wedding.

The structure in the bodice of the dress is great for busts of all sizes - providing shape for smaller cup sizes but enough support for larger cup sizes without needing any extra help (I am a 12E and was very comfortable wearing this without a bra). The dress has a convenient zip-up back, hidden underneath a string of decorative buttons.

While the lace makes this somewhat of a heavier dress, I found it very comfortable to wear for a mid-20's sunny outdoor wedding. And I had no problems at all dancing in it either!

The dress was professionally cleaned, with lace hand-washed, in the weeks after the wedding (receipt available).

Alterations

Dress was purchased off the rack as a size 12, which almost fit me perfectly so very few alterations were required. Bodice and waist were brought in slightly to fit my body shape, with lace back and neckline positioning adjusted.

Length was shortened slightly (lace trimming removed and reattached), and hidden buttons added to allow bustling of lining and lace train. Hook and eyes added underneath the buttons at the top of the keyhole back for strength.

Small lace cuttings have been kept from the adjustment if required for future alterations. My tailor deliberately left as much spare fabric in the seams as possible when bringing the dress in, and was confident the gown could easily be re-altered to fit anyone from size 10 to 14.
