The Dress

This elegant gown was designed by the House of Bianchi and is fashioned from creamy Duchesse satin. It has a classic A-line silhouette with a sweetheart neckline.
The fitted bodice and cap sleeves feature gorgeous details, including handmade beaded Alençon lace, seed pearls and iridescent sequins. Delicate bows, which have clusters of pearls at their centers, sit on the shoulders. Padded modesty cups are sewn into the bodice
There is a V-shaped back to the gown, and fabric-covered buttons trail the length of the back bodice, invisibly covering the zipper. The back bodice features a bow styled from the same fabric as the gown.
The skirt of the gown is edged in hand-made Alençon lace and sweeps to a chapel-length train. Hooks under the skirt allow it to be beautifully bustled to a floor-length hem. There are tulle underskirts, creating a subtle fullness to the skirt as it flows from the lace bodice
The gown’s original House of Bianchi tag shows it to be a size 10. It was purchased in 1989, when sizing ran smaller. It would be closer to a size 6-8 today. I was 125 pounds when I wore it and am 5’5” tall. The hem of the gown was tailored to brush the floor on me while I was wearing high heels.
There is a lovely headpiece that goes with the gown, embellished with ivory satin flowers, lace and pearls, and a tulle veil that falls to midback length. That will come with the gown, at no additional charge, if the buyer desires to have it.
The gown and headpiece were both professionally dry cleaned, preserved and stored in an heirloom box until recently, when I decided to sell. It is already carefully wrapped in tissue and ready to ship.
(If a bride wanted a sheath or fit and flare silhouette, this gown would look lovely if altered into either shape. The Duchesse fabric of the skirt is unadorned except for being edged in lace at the hem.)
