The Dress

The dress was designed and made by Stephanie Allin. It is a customised Celia dress. The arms were changed to a neater, simpler style and I removed some of the petticoat to so that the skirt wasn’t too big. It has a small silk ribbon at the waist about 0.5 mm wide.

It’s a very classic ivory wedding dress. The front of the bodice is structured and with boning for support and covered in a very delicate French lace with an eyelash trim. The back of the dress is lace against the skin so you really appreciate the beauty of the lace, it is low with three small buttons. The skirt is full and floaty and moves beautifully when you walk or dance.

In terms of sizing, it was made to my own measurements - I am between a size 10 and 12 and I am 5 foot 5. I wore low 7 cm heels.

The dress has been professionally dry cleaned by a wedding dress specialist immediately after the wedding day to a very high standard. There is some evidence of wear, there are a couple of very light marks on the skirt (which aren’t visible when the dress is on) and a small tear on the waist which would be very straightforward to repair.
