The Dress

This voluminous ball gown perfectly fit my vision of being a bride - regal and stunning! For reasons of sustainability, I sought out a dress that was previously owned, and in that spirit, I want it to now continue its life with another bride.

The construction of the numerous layers is extraordinarily complex and has held together perfectly. The outer layer is champagne-colored tulle with lace. Beneath that is a matching layer of white tulle with lace, then champagne-colored satin. It's a completely gorgeous effect. Then come three crinoline skirts which add amazing volume, and finally a comfortable cloth underskirt.

The back of the dress has a zipper and delicate crystal buttons. The train has a bustle loop, which can be hooked up to the lowest button, which is how I wore it for dancing. I have carefully hand washed the dress. It will need to be steamed before being used because the outer layers have gotten slightly wrinkled. I did this a few days out before my big day and then again after getting to the venue.

The fit of the bodice is really important on this one. It has boning and is quite structured, so there is no need to wear any kind of bra underneath. It also has a built-in thick elastic waist stay which holds the dress up right around the ribcage, kind of like a bra band. My measurements are 32" at the largest part of the bust, 27" ribcage right beneath the bust, and 26" an inch above my belly button, which is where the waist on this dress falls. 

There was a 3-inch tear in the outer layer of lace on the side of the skirt, which I carefully repaired and honestly never noticed again because of how voluminous the layers are.

The dress comes with detachable spaghetti straps which hook onto buttons inside the bodice if you prefer that look to strapless.

I can share more photos if you ask. Please know that you are purchasing a pre-loved gown, and it may have a few signs of wear, but nothing that can be spotted easily. The quality of fabric and craftsmanship have helped it stay in wonderful condition and ready for another bride.

I can't tell if the previous bride had alterations done, but I did not.
