The Dress

My loss is your gain, this dress is BRAND NEW due to a cancelled wedding and then two cancelled post celebrations! I've now gotten pregnant so have had to accept that even if WA ever consistently opens its borders, I will be unlikely to fit this dress anytime soon.

While I had planned to use this dress for my ceremony and reception, I know a lot of ladies use it as a 2nd dress for the reception, so they can enjoy dancing freely with their guests. Or celebrating a COVID mini wedding with all of the original guests at a later time.

Not only is this dress brand new I also purchased the slip and the bodysuit (extra $99), I planned on the slip for the ceremony and the bodysuit so I could dance later without the slip riding up. The belt you see in the photos online doesn't come with the dress so I purchased two sizes of gold belts ($60), and I learnt the lesson about bridal alterations when I ended up paying $900!

Off the rack, this dress is made for leggy twiggy models or at least long-waisted women. Meanwhile, I am 157cm and have a short torso. If you're my dimensions when the dress arrives the arms will sag at the wrists and when it sits at your natural waist the top section is baggy. The cheaper way to fix this for petite clients is to add some elastic at the back to pull in the excess around the torso, while my seamstress took approx 2cm from the top of the shoulders. Similar the cheap way to fix the arms is from the wrist, but this means you lose the faded end to gorgeous detail designed to work with the dress. Instead, the dress was taken up at the shoulders and refitted to keep that detail. The hem was also lifted by approx 3-5cm so it now sits above the knee vs right in the middle. I got the strip of tulle reattached to keep the swing to the dress. I also had thin breast cups sewn into the bodysuit and slip so you don't have to wear a bra. Really this dress will now be a perfect fit for a petite lady. I tried it once when it arrived (6-month wait) and once after the alterations.

Waist to hem 44cm
Waist to neck 38cm - measured along back
Waist 30cm measured flat - however you can actually stretch the fabric to measure 32cm.
Sleeve shoulder to cuff 58cm
Sleeve underarm to cuff 44cm.
