The Dress

This was the gown of my dreams - elegant, timeless and comfortable. My Holmes gown is made from bonded georgette in Natural. The bonded georgette has a lovely stretch to the fabric so you don't feel restricted yet it is firm enough to hold a beautiful silhouette shape. It also has a soft silk lining on the inside. The dress fit me like a glove and I felt so comfortable for our whole wedding.

It was important to me to wear the dress for the whole occasion rather than changing into another dress so I loved that the beautiful bow element was removable (it is attached with 4 buttons on the inside of the dress, that hook around the top of the back). I took it off for the reception for a slightly different look and ease for dancing.

I have since had the dress professionally dry-cleaned and it is still in the dry-cleaning sleeve. Can send more photos - please just message me.

Alterations

My gown was made to a size 5 with a standard length of 120cm from waist to hem. My measurements were: Bust - 98cm, Waist - 80cm, Hip - 106cm. (For reference you can check the size chart measurements on the One Day Bridal Website).

The length was then altered to floor length for me. I am 171cm tall and I wore flat shoes that had a 15mm heel. I had the bust taken in by about 1-1.5cm just so it was a little firmer on the day. And I also had a wrist loop added at the base of the dress under the silk lining so I could hold the back of my dress up, this cannot be seen at all when the dress is down.
