The Dress

My aim when shopping for a wedding dress was to find a simple, elegant, and timeless design.

Complicated sleeves, fussy lace and beading – those things just aren’t my style.

This dress stopped me instantly – strapless, ivory silk with a glamorous brooch. Elegant, classy, and like nothing else I'd seen. According to Marie Gaudin-Rozeville, the proprietor of San Francisco’s Paris Connection Bridal, it was a Portugese designer’s creation for Saison Blanche Couture.

Unlike most of the gowns I tried on, this one was unbelievably flattering and comfortable to wear. At my wedding, it stayed put all day and into the evening reception.

This dress was a steal back in 2009 at $1,600.

I added the mocha sash for a little extra flair (something I saw Monique Lhuillier doing to accessorize her dresses back in the day), but it can easily be worn without one. I'm happy to include it in the sale, if desired.

Like any bride I’m sentimental about this dress. But I also care deeply about the planet and realize that a dress this beautiful deserves to be out in the world and worn more than once!

The dress was altered to fit my 5’3” frame (35-C bust, 27” waist, and 34” hips).

Professionally cleaned and boxed after the wedding.

Alterations

It was taken in slightly as I lost weight in the weeks leading up to the ceremony. (no doubt from stress)
