Mariah sold her wedding dress on Stillwhite

Still White was a SUPER easy process. I had five serious buyers, and landed on one who unfortunately lived in another country. I was open to meeting prospective buyers to give them an opportunity to try the dress on and make sure it ‘felt right’ given it’s such a huge risk to purchase without trying (especially for such a significant day). In the end though, it all worked out! The only downfall was neither of us realised there’d be such a significant PayPal fee, but in the scheme of things, the fee wasn’t worth the effort of another transfer (+ fee). All in all, I will (and already have) recommend Still White to friends/family as a super reliable, easy platform.

The Dress

Before I started my dress search, I always had my eye on a Berta. The designs are perfect parts unique and saucy with a modern twist on a classic. This Berta was my DREAM. The second I tried it on, I knew it was the one. I felt incredible; comfortable and confident. The gown is a strapless sweetheart, with a fitted, structured, boned and embellished bodice flowing down into four layers of tulle, featuring a saucy leg split. Depending on the brand/make, I am generally a size 6-8 (XS-S). I found Berta runs small and while this gown is labelled a 40 (10/M), it’s more like a 38 (8/S). The bodice has been altered and cinched to fit like a glove so is more a size 7. The fine tulle does have minor tears through the layers as a result of wear and tear throughout the wedding day/night which cannot be seen when wearing due to the number of layers. A seamstress could be engaged to rectify the tears, but I sought advice and was told it’s not worth the money given the minor tears are hidden/invisible to the eye. The gown has been professionally dry cleaned, but would require steaming to soften and straighten out the layers of tulle before wearing. The only reason I’m selling my gown is because I want someone to feel as special as I did on their big day who might not have budgeted the money to buy a new Berta, particularly in trying to plan a wedding in the wake of a pandemic. Also, what if I never have a daughter and hold on to a dress for years for nothing!

Alterations

As above, the bodice has been altered and cinched to hug my waist and bust. The length was shortened from “factory” to suit my 161cm height with 100mm shoes.
