The Dress

I chose a non-traditional fabric for my wedding dress and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I still get compliments about this dress. It seems that everyone adores a classic gold gown and I felt like an absolute queen wearing it. It was unique, ethereal and fun while still being recognisably “bridal”. It has 1920s traits but is modern enough to avoid looking like a costume dress.

This couture gown was designed from scratch and made by an extremely skilled seamstress. The French gold and ivory sequin fabric was purchased from Saigon Fabric - a high end luxury bridal fabric store in Sydney’s CBD.

The soft lining is breathable pure silk and I somehow stayed cool despite getting married on one of the hottest days of the year. It was extremely comfortable to wear and surprisingly easy to walk and dance in.

This dress would fit a size 10-12 AU.
Bust and cup size is 10E, but there is ample fabric in the knotted waist to allow for adjustments.

I am only 153cm tall barefoot (I wore mid height heels), but this gown has a short puddle train. On someone taller it would be ankle length at the front and floor length at the back, which would still look phenomenal. It would also look stunning as a midi-length cocktail dress if you altered it.

The skirt of the dress is a wrap style as I wanted the stomach and hip size to be adjustable in case it had to accomodate a pregnant belly.

It’s an incredibly special one-of-kind dress and I will probably cry when I sell it, but this elegant gown definitely deserves another opportunity to dazzle in the spotlight and make another bride look and feel magnificent.

Total cost price was $5000. The fabric alone was $2500.
