The Dress

I first saw this dress on a mannequin and I'll be honest it was not at all what I was initially looking for as I was in the market for a slim silhouette, lace dress with a cowl neckline; but then this dress caught my eye and I HAD to try it on.

There was something about the way the tulle skirt was cut, it isn't a straight piece of tulle that hits the floor but it is an intricate handkerchief tulle skirt which is uncommon to be found done well in tulle. What's more is that the handkerchief detail is SUBTLE which I love, so you get the effect of the light hitting your dress and adding interest to the skirt without over-dramatic changes to the dress' silhouette.

The bodice looks and feels amazing - sweetheart neckline, crystal encrusted and corset style. Why do I recommend corset style? Simple answer: because I can control how skinny my waist looks! Zippers/buttons are set and if you should happen to gain/lose weight before the wedding it can affect how the dress sits on you. But with a corset, it is more forgiving and you can really pull in that waist should you want to (and for someone who doesn't really have curves, I really wanted to!). I added the sash on top to be a little more Vera Wang-esque, and to tie in with my bridal party so you can do the same with a sash of your own or leave it off altogether if you like (have included photos with and without sash for your reference).

Sadly only selling the dress due to living in a tiny 2 bedroom apartment and the storage room the dress used to live in has now become a nursery :)

PURCHASED: This gorgeous dress was purchased from the iconic Fashions by Farina in the Dymocks building, Sydney

SIZE + MEASUREMENTS: the dress was actually ordered as a size 7, to measurements 33" (bust) x 26.5" (waist) and height adjusted to 5'3" wearing platform high heels (see here: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/230668812137288859/)

CONDITION: Has only been worn once to my wedding, and has been professionally drycleaned by Blue & White Drycleaners who are pretty much the best dry cleaners in Sydney! Dress has been stored in the keepsake box ever since.
