The Dress

What a story behind this dress! I flew to London from Hong Kong where I was living back then, in November 2019 to shop for my wedding dress with my best friend and tried on this dreamy Vivienne Westwood cocotte long dress and fell in love. I loved the classic glamour of the gown, but wanted it to have a little extra flair. I was delighted when the Vivienne Westwood team agreed to customise an extra 20 cm in the train length.

The pandemic hit and I had to delay my wedding 3 times. The dress was ready late spring of 2020 but had to sit in the Browns Bridal store in London since the world was at a standstill. I finally managed to fly to London autumn of 2022 where I finally got to try on my wedding gown and hand carried it back to Singapore (where I currently live). We had our beautiful wedding in Bali earlier this Spring where I finally got to wear this stunning piece for my ceremony. This beautiful gown is now ready to go to its new home.

The dress is a Vivienne Westwood Cocotte gown, a size UK 12. It fits tightly around the waist and bust due to the boned internal corset. Despite being a tight corset, it was extremely comfortable to move around in and sit in.

The gown is made of a heavy weight silk and drapes beautifully across the bust and waist.

The gown is long as I was over 170 cm including heels. In terms of alteration I’ve had the original dress shortened. It also has an additional 20 cm in the train length compared to the standard Cocotte.

Condition:

The gown is in good condition, I only wore it for a few hours for the ceremony and photos (I wore a different gown for my dinner reception). It’s been highly taken care of and stored well.

The gown has some slight but hardly noticeable snags on the fabric on the bottom hem of the dress (from walking), and a very faint hardly noticeable one on the bodice. There is a small makeup stain at the back of the gown near the zipper which is not highly noticeable. The gown has been dry-cleaned.
