The Dress

Where do I even begin! This is the most beautiful dress I have ever seen. I was in love with the Vera Wang Gemma gown before I got engaged, it was the first gown I tried on and I knew it was most definitely 'the dress’! I also went to many other stores to try on different designs, styles and labels, (only because my maids forced me!) but there was no going past this dress.

And it most definitely did not disappoint on the day! I felt like a princess in this dress, the detail and workmanship is second to none. I chose the ivory colour with the blizzard beading (stunning!).

I also chose the ‘Strapless Bobbin Net Gown with Sweetheart Neckline’ in blush, from the 'White by Vera Wang' collection for my 5 beautiful bridesmaids which complimented my dress perfectly (http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_strapless-bobbin-net-gown-with-sweetheart-neckline-vw360154_bridesmaid-dresses-white-by-vera-wang-bridesmaid-dresses).

I first tried the dress on in the Vera Wang New York store, I had heard that getting it from the US would be less expensive, however by the time I factored in postage, the (less than impressive) Australian dollar and some of the other costs involved it worked out about the same cost. In the end I decided to purchase it from the Sydney boutique, it is labelled an AUS size 10 and is true to size.

I have had some minor alterations, done by the only Vera Wang recommended tailor in Australia (Sew Special in Sydney CBD http://www.sewspecial.com.au/). Alterations include:
- Taken up a little (note that I am 166cm tall and wore 4 inch heels)
- Bustle added
- Slightly taken in around the lower thigh (to give it that little bit of extra silhouette!)

For the ceremony I wore a Vera Wang single layer cathedral length veil, and at the reception I added the matching blizzard beaded belt (both were beautiful additions! and are available separately from the Sydney boutique).

The dress currently retails at the Sydney boutique for $10,660.

I live in Canberra and am more than happy for you to come and try the dress on, I just ask that only serious buyers come and do so.
