The Dress

KWH by Karen Willis Holmes ‘Aster’ dress. I purchased this dress at the Karen Willis Holmes boutique in Paddington.
In this dress I found a piece that was timeless, sophisticated and elegant.

A sleeveless gown made from silk satin lining with a completely sequin embroidered overlay. The dress has a V-neckline and V-back. I had the front and back V-lines of the dress made deeper by about 4 cm in the back and 2 cm in the front to make it a touch sexier and sleeker. It also comes with a matching embroidered/beaded belt with chiffon ties.

It has been hemmed for my height of 172 cm with 6.5cm heels. Single padded cups have also been fitted onto the dress between the lining and outer sequin layer. I am a B cup and did not wear a bra with this dress. These pads can be removed if needed.

The dress fit beautifully and gave a gorgeous, streamlined silhouette. There is a medium sized train at the back made up of the sequin overlay with a strip of Georgette silk in the centre. A ribbon and button have been stitched into the layers of the train so that it can be fastened up. A great feature for when the dance floor gets going. A slight problem was that the ribbon and button to fasten train, ripped on the night. This has been beautifully repaired by the seamstresses at Karen Willis Holmes. A neat seam down the back of the fabric was created which is not visible due to the drape of the fabric.

The dress has only been worn once in June 2016 and will b dry-cleaned and boxed up once purchased. The fee can be negotiated if you would like to buy the dress as is.

- V-neck and V back deepened as described above
- Hemline brought up for my height of 172 cm in 6.5 cm heels
- Straps made 0.5 cm thinner

Flaw:
- Ribbon and button to fasten train ripped on the night but have been repaired by Karen Willis Holmes. A neat seam down the back of the fabric was created which is not visible due to the drape of the fabric.
