The Dress

Tight lace mermaid dress with a sheer back. Pearl strands falling along the back. Mixture of blush, ivory and antique silver fabric layers. All fabrics are beaded and embroidered with pearls.

I was lucky enough to attend a Galia Lahav trunk show in Sydney hosted by Eternal Bridal in February 2015 even though tickets were sold out. There was a last minute cancellation and I was on the waiting list. It was the second dress I tried on and even with trying other dresses, I came back to this one as it just felt right. It was a big investment so my sister told me to sleep on the decision and see if I still felt the same way. That's when I knew it was the one! I dreamt about the dress that night and called Eternal Bridal the very next day to put my deposit in for the dress.

From my measurements session in Jan 2016 (usually a size 12), through to the arrival of the custom-made dress in August (a month before my wedding) I had lost weight during the 8 months as most bride-to-be's do. The main alterations were to pull in the sides to keep the dress nice and tight (4-5cm on each side so 8-10cm in total around the hips) and to pull up the length so I didn't step over my dress as I walked down the aisle. I wore Jimmy Choos all day (100mm/3.9 inches). We also added a discreet bustle which I used to pull up the back of the dress during the reception.

My measurements: cup size is 12D, hips 40", waist 32" and I'm 165cm tall.

P.S I received so many compliments on the wedding day about the "wow" factor of the dress. Some were in love with the backless look with the discreet mesh to hold you in the entire day, others loved the lace/beading and then one of my favourite features was the straps and pearls swishing all day at the back.

The dress has been dry cleaned and preserved by Syndal Bridal Dry Cleaners based in Glen Waverley, Vic who are recommended by Eternal Bridal.

Please note: the dress has a minor hole near the footer of dress (about 1.5cm) as well as two loose / missing beads from the wedding day which can be easily fixed by seamstress or alterations service. Photos available. Please contact me if you are interested.
