I am regretfully selling my beautiful, well-preserved and professionally dry-cleaned Johanna Johnson Mae gown. This dress is softly bias cut, silk satin gown that flows into a gentle fishtail, with cap sleeves and belted waist, it is a definite nod to the glamorous starlets of the 1940s. This dress was a limited edition which is not currently in production at the moment (see johannajohnson.com).

I bought this dress new for my wedding in March 2013 for $6,925. After the wedding, it was thoroughly and professionally cleaned by one of the most highly regarded bridal dry cleaners' in Melbourne, Syndal's Bridal Dry Cleaners (voted #1 for bridal dry cleaning in Melbourne by Australian Vogue). I have a certificate of cleaning from the dry cleaner to evidence this.

As for me, I am usually an AU10, which I was at the time of purchasing the dress. By the time of the wedding, I was an AU8, and the dress was still perfect. The heavy silk and the fabulous, flattering draping mean that there isn't a huge need for alterations other than to hemline. The label of the dress says US8/UK12, which equates to a AU10.

On the day of the wedding exactly, my measurements were waist 68cm/ hips 94/ bust 86. I am 166cm tall.

The dress is ivory with graphite coloured beading on the cap sleeves and belt. The dress has a short round train, with bustle-up option and finger loop to keep it out of the way of dirt etc. No bust cups - I just bought a backless stick-on bra from Myer or online from Amazon which worked a treat.

Other things to know:

- No missing beading

- No visible stains/catches (one small catch under the sleeve)

- Professionally dry cleaned by Syndal's Dry Cleaners and it came up beautifully. A certificate from Syndal's Dry Cleaners evidencing professional cleaning available on request.
