Diane Lewis, Based on Vera Wang Spring 2011 Felicity

Stunning Vera Wang inspired mid-grey and mauve Diane Lewis couture gown with a uniquely clever design.

This dress was inspired by Vera Wang's Spring 2011 collection - Felicity - see pictures. Describing her dress Vera said - "I’ve used a palette of lilac and charcoal, which gives it a smoky, watercolor effect??”it’s such a luscious surprise and gives the layers of tulle and tissue organza a little extra dimension. It’s so beautiful in this color, it almost looks like a watercolor brush painting. This is for a bride who wants to push the envelope and add a color to the ceremony in a way that’s a little unusual."

I wanted to be a bit alternative and non-traditional without being completely out there. I definitely wanted a coloured wedding dress and I loved the layers and softness of Vera Wang dresses but couldn't afford the price tag nor the time for an authentic Vera Wang. Enter my saviour - Diane Lewis Couture.

I also wanted to dance so gifted Diane suggested that we designed the dress so that the four layered tulle overlay train is easily detached leaving a classic and flattering straight slim line contoured A-line skirt! Easy to sit and still elegant with a fishtail puddle train that can be hooked up or looped on the wrist for dancing. The bodice is fully boned with a button and loop closure and Diane’s famous inbuilt corset. The Guipure lace overlay was hand-dyed a lilac/silver/grey colour with a contrast dark grey belt sash and grey/lilac tulle draped asymmetrically across the shoulder.

I got so many comments on the dress. It is simply stunning, wonderfully unique in colour and design and will take your guests’ breath away.

I wore it for my winter wedding in June 2015 with a silver grey rabbit fur ball wrap which I will also reluctantly include in the sale if you'd like it.

Obviously the dress was made to measure - I am a size 12-14 and am approximately 165 cm (5 foot 5”) tall. I wore kitten heels.
