Alterations

I bought this dress in a US size 10/ UK size 14 (I am typically a US size 6 or 8)
My body shape is not very proportional so we ended up getting one size bigger to have more room to alter
They did end up making the dress 1-inch smaller, so I would say the true dress size is more like a US size 8
In any case, you will need to go through multiple fittings, and you have the flexibility to either tighten another 1.5inches or release another 0.5inches
The dress came with layers of tulle fabric underneath the dress to create a more dramatic ballgown cut
Due to my height (I am 160cm without any heels), it was a bit too "puffy" for me, so I had asked my tailor to trim down some of the tulle fabric but the dress is still very much in a ball gown structure as you can see from my photos
My tailor also added a bustle on my dress to make it more functional and easier for me to move/dance throughout the night

About the Dress

The story behind this dress:
Back in 2019, I tried on 30+ dresses, Monique Lhuillier's Luna was the only dress that made me feel like myself. It was over my budget but it was "love at first sight". I bought this dress from the NYC boutique for my April 2020 Hawaii wedding. Needless to say, the wedding was postponed and I was unable to have my dream wedding until February 2023 due to travel restrictions (The wait was totally worth it though!). I love this dress so much that I had it professionally stored for three years to ensure of no discoloration and that it is in the perfect condition when the time is right for her to be appreciated.

Monique Lhuillier's Luna dress is a showstopper. The dress is classic, clean but grand and elegant at the same time. No jewels, no embellishments, no sequins, no beads, no laces - just beautiful layers made with the most gorgeous material. The dress requires no bedazzle for it to feel and look romantic.

I am attached to this dress as I feel that we have been through a lot, but I also feel that I should pay it forward to another bride who would love and appreciate this dress as much as I did.

The material & the cut:
The strapless gown came with structural sweetheart neckline and silk gazer draped over the corset-style bodice. The voluminous hand-tufted skirt layered with tulle fabric underneath, trailing your steps with a glamorous train that creates the ultimate fairytale silhouette. The dress is quite light-weighted for how big it is. My wedding was on a tropical island and I did not feel overheat at all.

The dress condition:
I only wore this dress once on my wedding night. I did wear it throughout the ceremony and the reception dinner (about 8 hours), and got some wine + soil stain on my dress since it was an outdoor wedding. I sent my dress to a professional wedding gown cleaning company (paid $500) right after I returned to NYC and I can confirm the stains are removed and the dress is in perfect condition.
