The Dress

I bought this dress after falling in love with Mariana Hardwick dresses, and their artisinal way of working. During my time searching for and buying this dress I loved the fact that the dresses are made here in Melbourne, by talented seamstresses in their lovely workshop right above the store. They create every dress with love and care, and this handmade, bespoke way of working really appealed to me.

This dress was the perfect gown for our romantic vineyard wedding. I chose it for it's light floaty skirt, and hand stitched flower detailing. The combination of raw ivory silk with the pale pink flowers and belted bodice was comfortable and glamorous without being over the top.

The design is classic, a little bit ball gown, a little bit A-line. The gown has a moulded bodice that is enhanced with handmade silk flowers and crystal beads which then drops to a flowing skirt that is full pure raw silk. The curved, strapless design with a gentle curve down the back is just so gorgeous. The back features a long line of covered buttons down the length of the bodice. The skirt is so soft with romantic flowing silk and the train bustles up very easily. I found this dress very light and easy to wear and the layers in the skirt blew lightly in the breeze.

I have had this dress professionally dry cleaned, but there are a few signs of wear along the hem of the skirt, although not noticeable. If the dress was hemmed to suite these imperfections would certainly disappear.
