About the Dress

I ordered the Penelope Gown from BHLDN in a size 8 for my October 2015 wedding. The top has an illusion neckline with a floral lace detail around the bodice. The bottom is made up of layers of ivory tulle over a bronze skirt with a removable ivory tulle sash that ties above the waist. I paired the gown with an ivory floor length veil for the ceremony. This is a very comfortable dress and it got a lot of compliments. It is the perfect dress for a wedding with a dreamy, ethereal feel. I absolutely LOVED wearing it.

Depending on the brand, I usually wear a size 4 or a size 6, but I thought I would rather order a dress and have it taken in than order a dress and have it be too small. I am a 34 D and weigh around 135 lbs. I ended up having the top taken in and the straps shortened. The top might be closer to a size 6 now. I am about 5 feet 6.5 inches tall and wore 2 inch heels on my wedding day. The dress skimmed the floor in the front and had a small train in the back. There was no need to hem the dress. However, I did have the tailor add a bustle because I didn't want anyone stepping on my dress at the reception. Aside from a few snags in the tulle at the bottom, the dress is in great shape.
