Alterations

  • I had the dress taken up a few inches, though tried to keep it minimal so that it would fit a wider range of other brides
  • I am 5'3" and wore 4 inch heels, so it should work for anyone 5'7" or shorter, depending on what shoes you choose to wear
  • I also purchased slightly more supportive and thicker breast inserts, though these are not sewn in
  • I'll include both the original and the thicker ones when I ship

About the Dress

I loved this dress so much and hope you will, too. I searched long and hard for a used one in my size but this one just goes so fast in the resale market (everyone else loves them, too), so I eventually just bought one new. It is far and away the most comfortable dress I tried on, and the lightweight fabric makes it feel cool despite the long sleeves. My wedding was in September, with temperatures in the high 60s-low 70s (F), which was perfect.

I'm a size 6 in US sizes, and the original measurements I had done in the store are listed above. I ultimately ended up being 2+ months pregnant at my wedding, so my final measurements were slightly larger but the lace is so stretchy and forgiving that there is a lot of flexibility in sizing.

Two things to note: first, the fabric is very delicate and can catch things very easily, so beware if walking beside an old railing, or something similar. When I received it back from alterations there was a spot of pilling for this reason; I was able to cut it off with small scissors and suggest you keep the same with you for wedding day just in case it happens to you. I took a really good look at it once I received back from cleaning and didn't see anything, but they sometimes only become apparent when you are wearing the dress.

Secondly, there is a small amount of dirt stain on the underslip that didn't come out after cleaning, though I can confirm it's not visible with the dress on. I actually got so distracted throughout the day that I never released the bustle - so the train never touched the ground and is flawless. (You can tell that the photo of the train above is clearly not me, but that's what the train looks like!)

This dress was professionally cleaned and ships in the original box.

Full measurements from the store below (in cm, since dressmaker uses cm)
Bust: 86cm
Underbust: 73cm
Waist: 71cm
Hip: 96cm
Shoulder to Floor: 135cm (in 3 in heels, though I went with 4 inch heels)
Suggested size: XS/S based on variability in measurements, but I honestly couldn't get the XS over my hips, so opted for the S.
