This is a 2018 Oscar de la Renta pleated lace ballgown, originally retailing for €11,390, purchased by me at an official Oscar de la Renta sample sale. It was the only one of its kind available and has never been worn outside of being tried on at the sale. I bought it prior to booking my venue and it won’t work for me now!

The gown is an ivory/soft cream tone (not bright white), giving it a beautifully romantic, vintage feel. The bodice features three-dimensional embellished lace/crochet floral appliqués, which create incredible texture and dimension. The skirt is a true ballgown silhouette with approximately six layers of airy tulle, making it dramatic yet light and effortless to wear.

The construction is extremely special: the dress has two separate closures — an external zipper for the outer gown, and an internal built-in bralette/corset layer that provides structure and support. The bodice is slightly sheer; it can easily be lined by a seamstress or worn with discreet nipple covers depending on preference.

Overall, this dress feels incredibly elegant, romantic, and cinematic — it has a whimsical, old-world quality that reminds me of something Keira Knightley might wear in Pirates of the Caribbean. It’s truly a statement piece and would be stunning for a bride looking for something timeless yet unique.
