Milla Nova Elysian, purchased at a 2025 trunk show.

A truly striking gown that balances modern romance with dramatic, couture-like structure. The dress features a fitted illusion lace corset bodice with an elegant halterneck neckline, tied with a statement organza bow, and a flattering basque waist, flowing into a full organza skirt with sculptural volume, soft architectural folds and a beautifully dramatic hemline. The contrast between the delicate lace and the bold statement skirt gives it a very fashion-forward feel, while still remaining timeless and unmistakably bridal.

This is one of those dresses that feels incredibly special the moment you put it on. It creates a beautiful elongated silhouette through the bodice and waist, before opening into a full skirt with real presence and movement. The organza catches the light beautifully, and the skirt has wonderful shape and drama without feeling heavy or overwhelming. It is romantic, striking and elegant all at once.

It also photographs exceptionally well. My videographer actually told me it was his favourite dress of the year, which was such a lovely thing to hear, especially as we were married on New Year’s Eve. It felt secure and supportive to wear, held its shape beautifully throughout the day, and moved wonderfully from ceremony to evening.

I also think it works beautifully across seasons. It looked completely at home at a winter wedding and would be just as stunning for spring or summer, depending on the styling. It works with or without a veil, but if you do choose to wear one, I would definitely recommend a cathedral-length veil to complement the drama of the dress and train.

Alterations

The original 3D floral appliqués were removed to highlight the organza skirt, which is striking and sculptural in its own right
The lace bodice was carefully removed and refitted to improve the fit through the waist, with the lace preserved and not cut
The dress was also shortened to suit my height and shoes
A bustle was added, together with a loop to lift and carry the skirt and long organza train more easily in the evening
As the lace was not cut, there may be scope for further alterations by an experienced bridal seamstress for a smaller fit, depending on proportions
The full skirt is more forgiving than the structured bodice, and the length can be altered again if required
