The Dress
This stunning custom made couture gown was designed and made by Steven Khalil for my wedding in October. The dress fits a size 10-12. It is a strapless, mermaid style gown that is extremely flattering and figure-hugging to the knees. The train is a glamorous 1.8 metres long which has a button and hook so that the skirt can be hooked up for dancing (see photos). This gown’s skirt is extremely light weight and moveable. The gown is made of 3 layers. The first layer of the gown is a beautiful French Chantilly lace, the second layers are a soft weightless tulle and then the bodice detail is a gorgeous thick 3D hand-beaded lace encrusted with crystals and hand-sewn pearls. Steven altered the main detail lace that I chose; he removed some of the crystals on the flower detail and replaced them with pearls to give a softer look, so the lace truly is one-of-kind and unique as it was specifically custom altered for my gown. This lace was used to make the arm bands to give an off-the-shoulder sleeve look. This was extremely comfortable as I was able to lift and move my arms without being tied down to the gown. It also meant two different looks (I wore the arm bands for the ceremony and then took them off for the reception for a new look). The gown cost $13,500.
