One-of-a-Kind Vintage 1950s William Cahill Wedding Dress
A truly rare, original 1950s wedding dress by William Cahill of Beverly Hills, California.
This dress was professionally restored and individually tailored for my wedding, including reshaping the bodice into a strapless silhouette. Because it is an original vintage piece that has been carefully restored and altered, there is no other dress exactly like this anywhere in the world.
It is made from beautiful cotton organza, which is incredibly light and soft to wear despite the volume of the skirt. This fabric is also very unusual to find in modern bridalwear, largely because of the cost and craftsmanship involved in producing it. It gives the dress a texture and quality that feels completely different to most contemporary wedding dresses.
The skirt is tiered with delicate floral detailing, and the back features covered buttons with a concealed zip underneath. The overall shape feels romantic and distinctive, but still very wearable and modern.
One of my favourite things about the dress was how lightweight and comfortable it was. It has the presence and detail of a statement gown without feeling heavy or restrictive, and I wore it comfortably all day.
The dress also includes an ivory floor-length veil, which I wore with it and which works beautifully with the vintage ivory tone.
