The Dress
Very willing to consider offers!
I designed this dress myself, hand-picked the high-quality fabrics from Tessuti Fabrics in Surry Hills and had it made by a local dressmaker. The skirt is very full, almost 2 circles, and hangs naturally and beautifully - very fun and comfortable for dancing. It has a layer of ivory silk satin, and a top layer of ivory silk chiffon (as well as a cheaper, white under layer to stop it from being see-through). The top is made from a silvery beaded lace.
I wore this dress for my outdoor spring wedding 2 years ago and had so many lovely comments about it. Our wedding was featured in Hello May magazine (http://hellomay.com.au/article/catherine-david-central-coast-farm-stay-wedding-reception-diy-homemade-best-coolest-venue/) and more pictures can be seen on our photographer's blog (http://danielferris.com.au/2014/11/catherine-david-yarramalong-valley-nsw/)
I am a dress size 8, and about 5 foot 5. On me it goes to the floor when I wear a medium heel.
The overall cost I paid for the dressmaker and fabrics was $3,500.
I had the dress dry cleaned after the wedding but they didn't do a very good job. It still has residual mud stains along the bottom few inches of the silk satin, and on the very edge of the silk chiffon (you can see evidence of this in the third photo above). It also has some light discolouration in the silk satin layer, and a very small tear under the arm which would be very easily fixed. Other than that it is still gorgeous, but the above conditions are why I am selling it at such a reduced price.
I took it in to Bridal Silver Service in World Square who quoted me $650 to have the gown cleaned, treated, hand finished and hand pressed. I haven't had a quote from anywhere else. Another option to remedy the stains could be to have it taken up a little, either for a shorter girl or for a ballerina style length. Please contact me with any questions or offers.
SIZE:
The dress was custom made to fit me. The below measurements are based on my current size. On my wedding day I was a little thinner than I am now, but the dress still fits well today.
Waist (thinnest part, where the top of the skirt sits) - 72cm
From waist straight down to floor when wearing the heels (at this height the dress sits just on the floor) - 107cm
Bust (the dress has padded cups sewn in which could be easily removed for more room, or replaced for smaller bust) - 80cm
Forearm circumference (the sleeve is quite snug on this part) - 25cm
Upper arm circumference - 30cm
End of my collar bone-mid-elbow - 34cm
