The Dress
***I am dropping the price to $100. This site is overwhelming to dress seekers and so not terribly helpful for dress sellers. At this point I just want this beautiful dress to go to someone who will appreciate it, rather than continue sitting in its dry-cleaner box in my bedroom. Contact me if you are interested.***
I fell in love with this wedding dress the moment I saw it in 1995. Technically now it's "vintage," but it looked vintage, or classic, even then. It is a timeless style. The off-the-shoulder bodice is ivory covered in very open lace (not delicate, complex, doily-style lace). At the top of each shoulder is a bit of beaded lace, which is echoed in the comb that attaches to the veil (included). The lace covers both arms, which are entirely visible through it, as well as the floor-length sheath dress (see close up picture of bodice for detail of the lace). The back of the dress is accented by flowing chiffon, which begins at each shoulder, then descends to the lower back, where it is continued by the (detachable) chiffon train. These chiffon accents mean that an otherwise fitted dress, which provides a beautiful silhouette, also offers constant movement and flow to the eye. They are lovely in photos.
Included are the veil with detachable, lace-covered comb, train, and two custom-made ring bearers' pillows, also adorned with lace from the dress.
The dress was professionally cleaned and preserved in an airtight box directly after the wedding. That box was never opened until today, when I took the photo you see here of the dress, veil, etc in the box. I have taken everything out and inspected it closely; all elements of this dress are in perfect, pristine condition. Aside from steaming the slightly wrinkled veil, you needn't do a thing to get this dress in shape for a beautiful wedding.
Alterations made: sides slightly taken in; bust filled out with pads that can be removed; slit in back slightly lengthened (to allow for ballroom dancing). No flaws.
NOTE ON SIZE: The dress tag says size 8 but that was not true to sizes at the time and is certainly not true to sizes today; the dress is definitely smaller than a current size 8. I was somewhere between size 4-6 at the time. I have not put the dress on since I opened the box, but if you would like a clearer sense of size before you decide on the dress, I would be happy to put it on and let you know what I think about size. Today I am somewhere between size 2-4 and I suspect the dress would be roomier than it is in the pictures. Feel free to contact me with any questions, including to offer a price that is below what I am asking.
