The Dress
Open to offers - Purchased from London Bride Couture in Pimlico, this is the 'Alice' by Watters. Our wedding was r we rly featured by Rock My Wedding.
Strapless sweetheart neck with low back and trumpet silhouette. Colour is 'Vanilla Bean' with champagne ivory overlay.
US label size 4 - would fit a street size 6-8.
Large embroidered applique design lace
Double sided silk 'belt' to waist with pre-tied bow and long tails at the back (can be easily removed or changed)
Concealed zip
Boning to bodice
Double hem at the bottom - the bottom 4" or so is a double layer so that can be moved up or down to alter the length of the dress without cutting/disturbing the pattern.
Stretchy lining - so comfortable and non-restrictive
I am only 5'4" but wore 6.5" heels!! We didn't alter the length of the dress- this can be done at the waist or, as mentioned, the hem can be moved up or down - see alterations details below.
The stretchy lining made it sooo comfortable and I had no trouble dancing, sitting down to eat and even kneeled in the church with no issues! The colour of the lining is 'Vanilla Bean' and the lace overlay is 'Champagne Ivory' - it really is a gorgeous tone that gives the dress an extra dimension whilst still being classed as traditional.
I chose it mainly for it's unique embroidered/lace design - it's strategically placed rather than covering the entire dress and the size and texture just stood out so much more in photos than the usual smaller pattern of traditional lace fabric. You can 'bling' it up with a sparkly belt - silver or gold tones look great with it - we tried lots!
Bottom can be made fuller or less full by adding/removing tulle underskirts
The quality is insane - it feels 'thick' and heavy but was so easy to wear all day and night! The bodice has structure so you get an amazing silhouette and feel supported, but the stretchy lining made it comfortable and easy to move in. I wore a bra as I am small chested but you could easily not wear a bra if you are more gifted in that department as the bodice is padded and boned!
I paid £2550 so grab a bargain! Veil also included in this sale. Open to offers though please be sensible!
I adore this dress but it's so silly to let it go to waste in my wardrobe, never to be appreciated again.
The dress was taken in at the bust and waist, and also taken in a little at the lower thigh - My seamstress has offered to speak to whoever buys the dress if there is anything they'd like to know re. the alterations that were made for me and is also advise on any alterations they might need - she is an independent seamstress but also stocks Watters dresses and so can liaise with the company to get matching fabric etc. if needed. She also tells me that nothing was cut and therefore all the alterations can be let back out. To give you a better idea of it's size - I am (was!) a small size 8 on top and a small size 10 on the bottom so I would say the dress would fit (with alterations) a size 6 - 10 as the lining is stretchy.
I have a 30-32" A/small B bust but wore a padded bra - as mentioned, the bodice has plenty of support for a larger bust without a bra but also gives a nice shape for us less-fortunate!
Condition wise, it was worn once for my wedding at Christmas last year and sent to Terrington Burchett - the specialist wedding and heir loom dry cleaners in early Jan. I now have it back and overall the dress is absolutely pristine HOWEVER there is some soiling to the very bottom of the hem at the front only which they deem cannot be removed. It IS noticeable so I want to be as honest as possible in this description and have close up photos I can send (only allowed 4 photos on this listing). I would suggest having the dress a little longer in length so that the hem tucks under a little and so you won't see/notice the darker edge to the front OR as mentioned, the bottom 4" could be removed altogether if you aren't too tall! The train is immaculate as it the bodice and skirt. One tiny strand of embroidery is coming undone on the bodice but I'm certain this is a very easy/inexpensive fix - probably one stitch!
Please, please, please come and see and try on the dress - currently in Hook (between Basingstoke and Reading) but can easily get the dress to Staines if closer to prospective buyer.
Just message if you'd like any further information or pictures (I have LOADS!)
Many thanks
Rach
