The Dress

A simple, but extremely elegant dress for the bride who wants a stunning gown but isn’t into lace or tulle.

I received so many compliments on how beautiful this dress was and it really suits the millennial bride. When looking for the perfect dress I like the look of a Bardot neckline but saw that it was a very popular style of dress for the time and didn’t want to be too conventional. The single shoulder sleeve/side shoulder neckline allowed for a similar silhouette to be created from the Bardot but was something unusual that I hadn’t seen in other dress designs when looking at bridal stores. This dress was also classy and timeless which is what I was trying to achieve so that when I go to look back at photos in 10 to 20 years time it will still be stylish and elegant. I also wanted to look elegant by keeping cleavage to a minimum but accentuate my figure in other areas.

I am from New Zealand and went to Melbourne, Australia to be fitted properly to this dress. I have included information from the original designer I bought it from and have all of the original receipts and dustbag it came with. Traveling and being fitted gave me the peace of mind I needed to ensure it fit me perfectly. I had one alteration fitting where the skirt was cut to an appropriate length and the waist was hemmed to sit higher as well as being slightly taken in at the waist. It can be bustled up so the train shortens at the back for better movement. It can be bustled via a loop and ribbon tie or the loop can be held on your wrist whilst you’re moving around. There are 11 buttons that do up at the back and it a beautiful simple detail to the back of the dress. The lining is a silk type which makes the dress lovely and cool and comfortable to wear.

It was seriously flattering and beautiful, I honestly felt regal wearing it on my special day.

I have done a number of measurements for the dress in its current state to give an idea of how it would fit. I am a size 8 NZ (often an XS US). The dress has been dry-cleaned and kept in a box to maintain its shape). It will need a steam to rid of some creases as the material is quite heavy.

No marks or blemishes, has been dry cleaned, is perfectly crisp white and is in perfect condition. Waiting for another beautiful bride to enjoy and wear it on their special day.

Arm to Arm width (from the inside of the right sleeve to the left arm pit) - 440mm/17inches

Armpit to Armpit - 375mm/14inches
Waist(bottom of the bodice) - 315mm/12.4inches

Top-Bottom Bodice (from the top of the dress to the bottom of the bodice, where it meets the skirt) - 240mm/9.4inches

Bodice Outside Width (how wide the bodice is from the right sleeve to the left armpit) 510mm/20inches

Back Length (from the top middle of the back to the tip of the train) - 2080mm/81.8inches

Front Bottom Width of Skirt (the skirt at its widest) - 1260mm/49.6inches

Widest Width Bottom Back (the widest width of the skirt at the back) 1290mm/50.7inches
