The material is stretchy lace, and for me as a pear (size 10 up top and size 12-14 in my hips and thighs) didnt need alterations. The material is thick without being heavy, and I didn't need any shape wear, it hugged and smoothed out everything beautifully. Bustle added to shorten train buy otherwise no alterations
