The cape is detachable by secure clips, and the dress looks great with it both on and off. I got so many compliments on the dress all day.

All the fit details:
- The bodice was not altered and is a standard size 4
- The hem was shortened -- I am 5' 7" and I wore 3 inch heels
- I wore a Spanx bodysuit underneath and it looked super smooth and elegant.
