I purchased a size 9 in au sizing and made no alterations except added a bustle and hemmed to my height. I'm a little over 5'8 and wore 2.5inch heels. I had it professionally cleaned but there is some light discoloration and one small dot on the train (pictured). I don't think any of it would be noticeable at all and especially if you were going to have it hemmed shorter.
