I bought this gorgeous dress in the UK for my wedding, and then gained weight across my hips - tragically it will not be accompanying me down the aisle.
It's had only minor alterations to nip in the waist to 70cm and sleeves to have them sit up on the shoulders as pictured. No staining or discoloration of the hem as it never got worn out.
It would fit an AU 8 pretty perfectly, and as I'm very tall (172cm without shoes) you should have no issues with length.
