Sewn in 2001 by my skilled mother, this dress was a vintage dream come true. It's a 1950 ballgown pattern by Vogue, and I selected slubby dupioni silk for the body and detatchable train, and buttery smooth silver shantung for the contrasting sash and bodice accent, as well as the covered buttons down the back. The headpiece, to which the veils attach, is also made with this dupioni.
I had the dress professionaly cleaned after its use, and like all fabric would, it has aged. I observe three small brown spots on the skirt in the back. Two are 2mm around and not very dark. The third is 3mm by 7mm and also not very dark. (picture included for reference.) There is very slight yellowing on the silver portion at the side seams where the underarms would meet the dress.
