Description of the embroidery from the original listing:
Features intertwined hand beaded and embroidered rowan branches. In Celtic and Scandinavian tradition, rowan is a tree of protection and life. It was often planted around homes and churches and considered sacred. Welsh tradition says the Cross of Christ was carved from rowan wood. A Norse story (recorded in the Prose Edda) tells how Thor almost drowned but was saved by a rowan tree. In stories from ancient times until now, rowan is associated with femininity, strength, resilience, and goodness.
