The Dress
This is a beautiful vintage dress I fell deeply in love with when I was living in Europe. I bought it on my 30th birthday on a weekend in London in the most divine vintage store.
It's the story I loved, a 1940s silk beaded gown from France. It's just very wonderful and very unique.
It's an off-white colour with steal grey beads, the front has a scoop neckline with a little detail on the shoulder. The beading is unique, vertical on the upper body and V on the bottom and legs, which highlights your curves. It comes with the original waist belt which is also beaded. I'm a size 8-10 on top and 10-12 on the bottom, length wise it's ankle length on me and I'm 169cm tall.
It was bought for my wedding, but our wedding was postponed and now I've got another dress. I was going to wear it back to front with the deep V as the front and the scoop as a little cape. As much as I'd love to keep it and live in the romance of the dress, I'd much prefer to see it loved and worn by someone else.
In terms of the condition of the dress, it is vintage and needs some TLC and someone very special to bring it back to life. The colour is faded with some minor rust stains but I was told by a specialist dry cleaner that it would brighten and there's some beading required and some stitching etc.
